Man Flu

Friday after another long week, just before I left I started to fill out my online time sheet. Not the one that means I get paid but the one that can tell my Director, Ian, what I spent my hours doing. Believe me, its down to the quarter hour as to what I spend my time doing at the bank.

It was only as I filled out the time sheet that I noticed that I had done 56.5 hours. No wonder I was feeling exhausted. By the time I came to leave I was feeling so weak it was like I had been hit by a steam roller.

I got home just before nine and was about all I could do to make a sandwich. I was in bed and asleep by 11:00.

12 Hours of sleep and on Saturday I felt just as weak. Please tell me I am not going down with the flu. I cant take time off this week, we are too busy and close to deadline. That said - it feels like 2 months till my holiday is way too far away.

So spent the weekend at home chilling, made my fabulous meat mix which is the base to my cottage pie, Lasagne and Burritos yesterday. It takes 4 hours to make and was worth it. The Cottage pie was fabulous and just the right spice.

Its not even 10PM and ready for bed now. ROll on the summer. Sweet dreams xx

Gym

Yes I said Gym not Jim. Bumped into Lee at the gym last night who asked the question, "Why do we both go to the gym in town when we have a perfectly good gym at home?" Good question I spose, except for the fact I go to the gym in town and can do a good 1-3 hour work out. Go to the gym here at home and sometimes am the only one there, other times its full of smelly people who ignore you. They have terrible music on, there is no atmosphere and half the time the only things I would want to go on are busy.

I go to the gym to soak up the atmosphere and watch the people work out as I do. Plus with all the TVs I can watch the news or Hollyoaks while I do my cardio which makes the session go much faster. I really must start to go in the mornings when I am so busy with work.

Tonight - Aerobics, if I dont get caught up at work!

Scuz tours.

It felt like I had died and gone to gay hell as I stepped off the train at London Bridge. It was like a sceene from Shaguluf in the height of the school holidays.

Shellsuits and leg warmers like in the height of the era of Fame. Everywhere I looked there were hooped earings, signet rimgs, poodle perms that were more of a hair dont than a hair do. Everywhere there were prams. Prams with screaming bratz, prams of shopping, empty prams and prams that seemed to do nothing more than support fat people. There is nothing I could think could spoil a holiday than a resort full of children. Worse still a resort full of teenagers that didnt want to be there.

I decided to take the tube to escape the tourists. Maybe the gym will revive me?

Reminded me of why we choose to stay somewhere adult only or gay only when we went on holiday. Thus the reason we dont travel between the six weeks of the summer holidays and the reason I have never been on a package tour since I turned 18.

Spring is in the air

Amazing how a little bit of sunshine can completely change your mood. I arrived yesterday at the office at a few minutes before 8AM. Already the sun was shining and you could tell it was going to be a really nice and warm day. The news was stating it was predicted to be almost double the seasonal average with a high in London of 16 degrees. People arrived at work with a spring in their step and smile in their cheeks instead of arriving flustered and wound up from the bedlam that is commutting.

This morning I decided to wake extra early. We have a deadline this week and as such I need to get extra done this week. My alarm was set for 515AM. I woke way before the alarm and even though it was not yet dark, the birds were already singing and it was warm. Strangely warm. Considering that we had the heating on just a week ago and now its warm enough to have the windows open at night. Portugal is basking in 26 degrees of sunsgine and summer is coming. Following a long cold winter its like we are all waking for a period of hibernation and slowly coming around for a long hot summer of fun and fabulousness.

Many thanks to all my well wisher messages from around the globe. Have a great Spring Day! :-)

Crazy days - time to learn Spanish

Seems that life is terribly busy at the moment. I am working long days at the bank and trying desperately to get to the gym at least 4 times per week in teh few hours that I have after work.

I can honestly say that I working the long hours that I am, I like to be home and relaxing by around 830PM and in bed by not long after 10:00 on a school night. So its not surprising that come the weekend I am far from wanting to go out and party non stop. Friday we went shopping and then came home and vegged with some television.

Saturday I managed a huge, 3 hours at the gym. Worked every muscle group and did an hour of Cardio. Meanwhile Dusan was working an evening shift. He had suggested that I meet him at XXL after work. His bus would get him there around 2AM. But by the time I got from the gym (930pm) and cooked something healtyh (Grilled Chicken & Fresh Salad wholewheat Pita), my legs were achy and the wine was begging me to pour it.

Plus Dusan had to be back at work at 0900 AM so I didnt think it was partiuarly a good idea. Instead I got a nice lie in and then went to the gym (Again), gosh I am good, then made my way to Vauxhall and met Richard at SBN. Had been years since I last went. Infact Dusan was living on the ship so thats been 2 years. Where does the time fly? Had fun and at least it doesnt feel like I had no weekend.

Came home and Dusan was practically bouncing off the walls wanting to go out and as he had been given Monday & Tuesday as his days off (Lucky bitch), he arranged to go out and to Fire with his work friends. Just as I was trying to unwind and relax and get in the mood to sleep he was boucing and excitable and ready to go to the club.

I got up at 6AM and his just got in - we are much like ships that pass in the night.

We did have some good news. Wednesday, Ray managed to buy advanced tickets to Michael Jackson at the 02 in July. Out of all the places that Jacko could have done his comeback he choose London. With the Olympics and World Pride too, it really does seem that London is the centre of the earth. Cant wait to see the King of Pop once more. Even better its just 20 minutes away from home. Will be 2 concerts in a week in July. I have Take That at Wembley too. Happy Days.

Chick Flick

After a couple of good hours at the gym this evening I came home and decided I had to eat something healthy. I tried the M&S ready meal section but everything is so full of rubbish that I decided against it. (Maybe my nutrition course is starting to pay off?). But why do 2 hours of Cardio and weights only to undo it in a flash withs omething bad. I did however treat myself to a glass of wine. Blissfull. Even nicer now I have learned a whole bottle has only 500 Calories. I thought it was more like 1500.

So instead of ready meal stosh I grilled a chicken breast, chopped a red cabbage, lettuce, onion, beef tomatoe and cucumber and stuffed chicken and salad into a wholewheat Pita x2 and voila a low fat, healthy dinner.

Meanwhile a chick flick was on Channel 4 and well, I do like a good girly movie. Call me a poof if you must. Made me realise at the end and I am a sucker for a happy ending, how lucky I am to have found my handsome prince.

Had a chat with a friend tonight too and he said he wished he had someone and what was the best thing about it? I said it was all about sharing your life. Waking up next to the one you love, seeing their smiling face when you come home and sharing life's experiences, such a holidays, birthdays and Christmas. Makes me realise that finding Dusan is the pivotal point that really did make me a lucky bitch.

Meanwhile spring certainly feels like its in the air, even if it does still turn cold. Rock on a hot summer of love!

Croatians in the Garden

My friend Richard from Bristol and I don't have talk daft at times. He always swops words for something that sounds similar. Of course you are expeced to work out what he is talking about with any clues. Like the time he called me up and told me his broad beans were not working? (Broadband), or Nutros Ceremide (advertising jargon which is completely made up...i.e. now with Nutros Ceremide. Complete rubbish really. But one of our funniest was the fact that come this time of year we often are on the look out to see if the Croatians are coming up in the front garden. (Crocuses).

Last week I had to make the walk between our West End office and the Mayfair office and had to pass by Berkely Square. Looking down at the lush green square, there they were in Purples and Yellow, pushing their way through and a sure sign that spring is finally on its way after what seems like one of the longest winters ever. I have had the heating on, albeit at lower heats non stop since October. 6 Full months of winter.

With all of the doom and gloom that has come since the economy turned sour in September with the collapse of Leahman Brothers, the winter seems more grey, dull and depressing than ever before. Lets just pray and hope that this year is a nice and warm summer. Even if the economy is miserable a little bit of heat and sunshine can go a long long way to making people smile. Till then, try and smile a little today. Remember it burns more calories than a frown and is infectious at making others smile. Lets all smile today and do our bit for making it a more cheery day!:0)
