Wise words from Auntie Linda

My Auntie Linda wrote me some very kind, wise and touching words and I just felt I had to share them with you.

In life, everything that is worth having is worth fighting for. I have found that the things which came easily are not treasured or valued but when I have had to fight tooth and nail to achieve something, then it has meaning and I do value it because I know what I went through to save it, get it, or possess it.
You and Duan have been through enough and now the day is drawing near when you will be able to look back and say "it was all worth it - we are together and we have the rest of our lives as a lovely adventure". You will treasure that relationship because it was hard fought for. I have found too Neil, especially since I have been ill and have had time to reflect, the most important things in life are relationships. The people you love and care for. There may be only a few but that does not matter so long as who you do love, loves you back and that it is real. Money and possessions are nothing compared to the love of those special people. If you just have a few special "loves" you are rich because some people go through their whole lives and do not ever experience the love you and Dusan have for each other. It does not matter that your rings are only silver, they could be curtain rings it is what they stand for and represent that is important. They could be encrusted with diamonds but to the two of you what they represent is never ending love that goes on continuously not the value of the jewels or the weight of the gold, those things mean nothing.
You just be proud of yourself. Always listen to your heart, go with your gut instincts (cos you are no fool) and give your love freely. That is what will make you a KING.. I am sad that you find it difficult to talk to your Mum and Dad, but often, it is the people close to you that you can find hardest to open up to. It is not their fault but perhaps they have deep rooted prejudices and cannot over come them. Give them time Neil, let them see how happy you are and I am sure that they will eventually, have to recognise love in whatever form it comes because love is all that is important. I want you to read from the bible Corinthians Chapter 13 verse 1 to 13 under the heading Love. When you have read that I think you will then fully understand how important "Love" is.
"I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired preaching: I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets: I may have all the faith needed to move mountains - but if I have no love this does me no good.
Love is patient and kind: it is not jealous or conceited or proud: love is not ill mannered or selfish or irritable: love does not keep a record of wrongs: love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth: Love never gives up: and it's faith hope and patience never fail.
Love is eternal. There are inspired messages but they are temporary: there are gifts of speaking in strange tongues but they will cease: there is knowledge but it will pass. For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired messages are only partial: but when what is perfect comes then what is partial will disappear.
When I was a child my speech, feelings and thinking were all those of a child: now that I am a man I have no more use for childish ways. What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. What I know now is only partial: then it will be complete - as complete as God's knowledge dof me.
Meanwhile, these three remain: Faith, Hope and LOVE and the greatest of these is LOVE."

I post these words so that even if the Email is lost or destroyed those words will be saved forever.

As the 4th July fast approaches my days as a single man are very much numbered but I fear not the future, for I know I shall be spending it with my Soul mate. Dusan Stojnovic. Love of my life!
