It seems that right now everything I do at work is like an uphill battle. I have about 7 projects on the go and only about 7 weeks until I am due to start my new assignment at the bank. With the endless delays I finally got the template I need this morning in order to press on with another segment.
Investigating the tasks I have to do it looks like a minefield of about 16 tasks for this one project. I go to meetings, rush to another and the projects merge into one.
Today I had to go and sit on a course on a Swiss application then came back to tie up ends. Finally got one completed.
Meanwhile, is it my fault that I am clumsy? I know I bang my head, hit my knee, knock over a drink and I am constantly walking away from my desk forgetting that I am wearing my headset and near decapitating myself. You know I dont mind any of that. I am comfortable in my own skin and I know I am clumsy. But I cant help that. Its how I was made. Worts and all. But when my team make fun of me, not just occasionally but all the time it starts to wear you down. Its all jovial but after a while you start to think, is it me?
Aside from the office I have been attending a nutrition course this evening and then the gym. All that hard working must equal a glass of wine right?

Where did the weekend go?
One minute it was Friday evening and I was leaving work to do meet Dusan. We both went to the gym together after going to Habitat. Go figure, the Central London Habitat closes at 1830 on a weeknight. You would expect 8PM for the West End at least eh?
Saturday Dusan had to work an evening so we both vegged during the day and cleaned the appartment. At 3PM I made my way to the gym with the aim of seeing how long it took me to cycle 10 KM. That's how far the journey is according to TFL.gov.uk. I figured that as 1/4 of the department seem to cycle into work it could be something I could consider. Afterall, if I have cycled 12 miles round trip it would take away the need to do the gym quite so often. It took me 40 minutes but I am still not sure that it would be safe for me on the roads. I am half asleep for at least the first hour or so in the mornings. I managed to get stuck into a film also so was at the gym a good few hours.
Saturday evening I had to go to Sainsburys. Okay so itw as nearly 8PM when I got there but its advertised as being open till 10PM. I was not alone in my complaints as other shoppers were also commenting that if they cant even stock tghey shouldnt remain open. Not a single Herb, Not one Banana, No Tomatoes, completely out of Milk. Half the shelves were completely bare and it was as if they just didnt bother to restock. Its not the first time half the things are out of stock. You dont expect it at a Londn store. Down the road however the Asda has tons of Fruit and Vegtables. A far better selection and their prices are better. Its just the meat is better at Sainburys.
I had to go back to shop again SUnday to pick up all the things that I had been unable to get the day before. One was not pleased.
Saturday Evening I met my friend from South Africa, Rui, at XXL. I was in half a mind as to whether to go or not. I kind of wanted to spend the weekend at home and just relaxed. But I had fun. Sunday was spent at home but for an emergency trip to Sainburys again.
The weekend is passed and its Tuesday already. Where did the weekend go? Oh I remember now, I slept through most of it! Well if you need it, take it!

F***ing Men & Love Muscle
Mark & Richard invited us both to go see a play with them in Islington called "F***ing Men" We were unsure as to what to expect. Was it said in a rage sort of way? Or was it meant more discriptve than that? Turned out to be a story following the way that 850 men's lives were intertwined and preety much about the 3 degrees of seperation. It was touching, funny and truly a superb show. Set in a tiny theatre at the back of a pub in Islington (The Kings Head) on upper street, the show runs till the end of February with doors at 1015PM. I would recommend it to anyone.
Such a late performance meant a late night for us Friday.
Saturday, a bit of a lie in and then the usual trip to Sainsburys.. Saturday evening was the return of Love Muscle at the Fridge. A former haunt of mine and as the place has been closed for about five years seemed appropriate to go and check it out. Marcus chops & Windmill were in town for the weekend and so we all arranged to go and even dragged Steve & Woody out to play.
Left the flat at 10 and thanks to the Victoria line closed for engeneering work had to take a bus from Stockwell to Brixton, had me wishing I had driven after all. Especially as the final stop of the bus disembarked into a group of several hundred goths. Do Goths & Gays mix? lol.
MAde our way up to the Fridge and stood in line for about 15 minutes. Bumping into Shaun & Mikey, Lee & Chris and Simon le Vans. All behind us in the line. You could tell allready that the atmosphere would be much like a school reunion.
I had forgotten exactly how tacky Love Muscle was. The music was truly awfull, loud & Cheesy and mixed terribly. But the atmosphere was fun and uplifting. It was just rammed and being worn out from a late Friday, by 230AM I was ready to come home and relax. Dusan was in good hands so I found him and asked to go and get my coat from the coat check. We had both put our things in his bag. Only neither of us had the ticket. I thought he took it, he thought I did. The place was packed with 1500 revellers and we had lost our tickets, containing my coat and keys. Thank heavenes the girl on the coat check was helpful and our description plus the fact our coat ticket had our initials meant she was able to find it for us. Phew. There was a 10 minute period where I thought we were stuck until the last person had left. Thank heavens the girl was helpfull.
Spent yesterday chilling. I felt bad leaving so early but all the 6AM starts start to take their toll. I know I have to get a certain level of sleep at the weekend or else I will suffer all week long. In these times of economic madness, you have to work even harder at work to prove your worth. 12 hour days are not uncommon.
It was great to see all the boys again, I just am sorry I couldnt stay out later. Will make it up to them with a nice home made dinner soon. Still was fun, but now back to the grind stone.
Finally, is it spring yet? Only this winter seems to have lasted for ever!

Britain's not working
With the news yesterday from Mervyn King, head of the Bank of England that this is now the worst of economic times for Britain since the second World War it is clear that the governments policies to pull Britain out of recession are not working.
Yesterday the very man that Gordon Brown called upon to help advise on the monetary policies was forced to resign following his being fired for standing up to the fat cats and their potential dangers to the banking industry as a whole.
With 1.79 Million people in this country now out of work and this figure expected to reach 3 Million by the end of the year its clear that Britain isnt working, the economic stimulus policies are not working and as far as I can see its nowhere near getting any better.
This week on the news there is more about the farce that is the MPs expenses of up to £28,000 per year to pay for a second home in London, meanwhile the Home Security chooses not to live in the home provided in Fabulous Belgravia and instead claims the expenses and then lives at her sisters. This is nothing but pure fraud. If it were you and I or any non MP we would face prosecution, a criminal record and potential jail or a fine. They are the most corrupt people you could ever read about.
Far from having the confidence in Labour to come up with policies that will bring us out of recession I like many others have lost all confidence in them. Further more, as we see posters around the land stating "Every Child Born in Britain today is born owing £17,000 in national Dept). Meanwhile Gordon and his clowns keep spending.
It made me ask myself who do Labour now represent? Anyone but themselves? They pushed through the EU Constitution that we didnt want. They bought us leaps and bounds forward under Tony Blaire with equality for the GBLT community but what do they do now? Raise Taxes, Encourage mass immigration, increase national debt and encourage people to not work by offering the best benefits package in Europe. If it were not true the refuges would not be piling up in Calais waiting to find a way to Britain.
The fact my friend gave up a full time job on over £30K to go on benefits prooves how crazy this country has become. Seems the only suckers are the hard working middle classes. Time to stand up Britain and let your thoughts be known. Why do we have a man who "Took Over" without winning an election running the country? A man who's constantly saying "We will do whatever it takes", but has yet to do anything to bring us out of recession. Woopie 2.5% off VAT. All that does is increase their borrowing further as the public purse shrinks further.
Meanwhile Americas new stimulus pouring $7,0000,000,000 into the US economy by tax cuts will give money back to the middle classes. My guess is tax cuts like that over here will never happen. Seems the only people labour now represent are those that dont contribute to the country and tax cuts to the non workers are non existent.
If I were PM one of the first things I would do is demand our rebate back from Europe. Yes Maggie Thatcher got us 3 Billion of our £9B back in a rebate that Gordon gave away last year. In return, he was hoping for concessions on farming regulation that never happened. In truth the only people in Europe that seem to abide by the EU laws are the UK. The fools of Europe. We need a new leader, we need a new government and we need change and now. With Mervyn King saying the recession is likely to last into 2012 why dont you do us all a favour and let us have a change now, call an election and let us really have a say. Something you have never let us do. But you wont? Why? You don't have the balls Brown. You don't have the balls.

Thaw, Steph & Bluewater
You wouldnt believe that a week ago today there was a foot of snow outside the window. The weekend saw sunsine and 6-7 degrees. All that remained were a few snowman as their clumped up snow sits on bright green grass.
Saturday Dusan had to work as I got up and made my way to Bluewater for 2PM where I had arranged to meet Steph for lunch.
I've not seen Steph since her birthday last year and before that our weekend shopping in Calais. So it was lovely to catch up. Having known Steph since 2000 as a work colleauge we have grown to be dear friends over the years. Getting to know each other further after we went to celebrate GJ's 40th in Las Vegas several years ago.
We met in a lovely little French restaurant where I blew my diet with a club sandwhich and fries plus Zinfindale. Opps. Well its the weekend. We chatted for a couple of hours before wandering around the mall that was absolutely heaving. I had to buy a pair of work slacks as accidentaly tour one of my pairs while bending down in the kitchen and catching them on the corner of a drawer.
Got home around 6PM in time to relax and shower & shave before heading off to pick up Mikey and go to XXL. His flatmate Blake & Boyf Ian joined us. I couldn't believe that Blake was totally drunk by the time we got to Mikeys.
XXL was officially underwear night. Think of the voice from the muppets for Pigs in Space... "Bears in Pants".... Lol. We arrived when I suddenly realised I had on Red Calvin Kleins and arriving sober was no state to be willing to go in my pants. As the dress code was optional and less than 10% of the clubbers were in their undies we all declined. After all, where would you put your coins?
It was okay. It wasnt as busy as it has been. I belive Mega Woof was on in Vauxhall and the usual crowd were missing. Still was great to see Mikey & Blake again. Mikey and I left at 230AM.
The weekend now over, the snow now gone, another week begins and we are told more snow is on its way this week. We will see what mayhem it causes. Apparantly the councils are running out of grit for the roads which does beg to ask the question, how can a country surrounded by sea ever run out of Salt?

Winter of discontent
Its strange was we were only saying a few months ago, back when the price of oil was rising out of control and prices of everything were spiraling upward and upward that it would end up being a winter of discontent. Where the people had to get to a stage where they would take a stand and say enough is enough. If the state ran the utilities at least there would be some control over the Electricity and Gas people hiking prices by 50% as and when they please.
It amazes me that they actually thought that Privatisation of essential services would actually benefit the general public? Instead the private companies make millions and yet they have a monopoly. For the past 2 days my local train company has failed to run services, despite the fact I managed to get to work for 2 days running.
Getting off the train last night they only finally were starting to shovel the snow from the platforms.
So I am all in support of the strikers at the oil refinery and the nuclear plant. Not becuase they are striking for jobs for British people but for what they represent. The disheartened British Public. Sick of the people in charge (who has no respect from the public general as he didnt win an election), giving away our rights. Europe seems to rule our land now with their demands we cut landfill waste, cut emissions, close powerplants. Meanwhile they dont have solutions. Instead of cowering to Europe Mr Brown you should be standing up for our rights.
You signed the treaty noone wanted (despite the promise we would be given a referendum.) You wouldnt let us vote on the matter as you chickened out, scared we would say No. Well guess what? We would. You cowered and had less balls than Mrs Thatcher when you gave them back the £3 Billion rebate Mrs T negotiated for us? What did we get in return Mr Brown?
You traded the rights of the British people for political gain in the hands or the Eurocrats. We do not respect you Mr Brown. The people are sick of you and your corrupt party. We are sick of you having rules for us but disobey them yourselves. I would love to be able to not tell you of my income or how much I spend on things. How nice it would be to hide an income or perhaps have an allowance to pay for a whole second house. My biggest expense is my house, why should MPs have tax payers pay for theirs? Give them a council flat and make them live like the people. Its corruption at its worse. Now if I refused to file a tax return I could go to Prison. Your party fail to declaire certain incomes and its a tap on the wrists.
You made a royal screw up when you said "British Jobs for British People" and yet the refinery is providing British Jobs for Portugese & French workers and "I am the man that ended an era of Boom and Bust. My Brown, if you were a CEO we would have you by the balls right now. Why are they advertising £65,000 Olympic Jobs in Australia? Surely its time to stop visa's to non EU citizens. Support the people that pay tax and get the unemployed back in to work rather than having an open door policy to bring labour in. 3 Million plus unemployed is not helping the treasury.
Meanwhile if you want ideas to get the economy spending, how about removing Tax from Petrol. Prices would drop on delivery on everything. Even Wal Mart, owners of Asda have said its the cost of delivery that means they are unable to offer prices anywhere near those our American Cousins pay at Wal Mart.
You have lost the respect of the people and so I am fully behind the strikers. Behind them for having the balls to say this is what we believe and standing up to fight for their rights rather than cowering to Europe and backtracking on promises.

Central London Blizzards
When Dusan didnt get home until gone 7AM and he finished work at 1AM I knew I would have trouble getting to work. With London Buses (the entire network) completely suspended after several buses ran off the road and had accidents. So I made my way over to the DLR station. Normally I would consider taking a mainline train but they too were suspended. The good thing about the DLR is that they are driverless. Computers run the entire network and so you are not reliant on the drivers getting to work to operate a train.
Taking the stairs up to the DLR platform only to find it was heaving with people. The earliest service was 7 minutes away and then 17 minutes. There must have been at least 200 people on the platform so a stampeed started as soon as the the doors opened. By the next station there was no room at all. Platforms packed with people with not a chance to get on the already stuffed full train.
I managed to get to Bank and changed to get the Central Line to Bond Street. Bakerloo & Jubilee were both suspended so had no choice but to take the Central line.
Despite waiting 12 minutes for a service and then craming onboard. The train got stopped at most stations but after nearly an hour on a normal 10 minute journey I arrived at the office. Not only was I the only one in my team that made it, the class I had made the effort to attend had been cancelled due to the snow.
By 1045AM my boss (Ian) was on the phone seeing if I had made it and said I should make sure I dont get stuck. Not long after that they were putting emergency plans into place and all non emergency staff were being sent home. Emergency staff were being put into hotels over night and we are now battering down the hatches and prepared for the next snow storm thats just starting to hit!
6 inches and its Chaos
Woke up at 545AM to have a text from Dusan telling me that he cant get home. Thanks to the snow all buses in the whole of London are suspended. This is supposed to be a major city but they close the entire network. The fact that thousands of people are stranded in the Capital.
Poor love just called and said that his at Waterloo and the entire station is closed. Hopefully the Jubilee line is running else I shall not be able to get to work either.
Meanwhile its still snowing and they say its the worst snow we have had in 6 years. So thats an excuse to not put enough grit down and keep the capital running. My guess is that today millions of people will miss work and not by choice with the entire network disabled.
Watching people leaving the flat with their feet deep into the snow, no sign of the DLR and no buses. Other than walk (Yeah right) I dont know how I will get in. Oh and there is no running water. Did it freeze? What is wrong with this country? Everything comes to a standstill? Where was the warnings to store water? Amazes me sometimes!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Oh the weather outside is frightful
and the fire is so delightful
and cos we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
It doesnt seem to matter that it causes havoc on the roads and the public transport networks everyone in the UK seems to smile at the sign of snow. We don't ever get enough for it to really become tiresome and we never get enough that it causes the problems you see in the North Eastern United States. Instead we get a day or two if we are lucky every year.
I knew there were due to be flurries this evening but upon hearing the noise of Children outside (Whats going on this is supposedly an adult community. We all moved here for the fact it was child free. But there were children playing outside the bar in the complex. I opened the blinds to pear out and heavy snow was coming down and several inches settled on the grass and roadways. I never really expected to see this much in inner London.
Hopefully we will have a nice settled amount in the morning and I can take some pictures. Camera is on charge as we speak.
and the fire is so delightful
and cos we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Choc Solid
Dusan has been working lots of lates and finally we had a Saturday evening off together, so last night decided we would go to XXL for a bit of fun. Taking the train we arrived shortly before midnight to find a lign of about 100 people outside the door. It was crazy. I have never seen it that busy. We guessed it must have been down to the fact that everyone had been paid for the first time since Christmas.
Once insde we ran into Antonio & Neil. It was crazy, you would not believe how many people were inside. There was a line all night at the bar, coat check, it was never ending.
We couldnt stay too late as Dusan is working a double today. So slept in today getting some of my beauty sleep which is much needed at the weekends. Only way I cope with getting up before 6AM every day in the week.
