Whacko Weekend

It wouldnt be right to begin to start to talk about my weekend without paying tribute to possiby the greatest entertainer of our time. I grew up on Michael Jackson Music. His was the first pop concert I ever went to. I was only a kid when I managed to buy 6 tickets to the King of Pop at Wembley. Your first concert is so much more memorable than any other and though I got tickets again a few years later I will always remember that first time.

I had tickets again this time, infact we were due to go to the 02 next Friday to watch him again. It doesnt seem real that his no longer here. Rest in Peace Michael. May you receive in death equal happiness that you have shared with us all over generations of music. You truly were the king of Pop. Our Elvis. The Peoples PopStar.

Saturday afternoon kicked off the launch of the pride season with the Clapham gay Street Festival. I arranged with Mickey to go to Clapham and started the day with a BBQ meal at Bodeans. Burnt ends and Pulled Pork with fresh Slaw. Yummy.

We then walked down the high street to the Street Festival. Situated down the side of the Kazbar in a residential street we were first searched then allowed free entry. The lovely boyz from GMFA were collecting and its always a pleasure to help them out in their very worth cause. Was that Paul Burston with a collection bucket, yet minus a beard? I couldnt quite tell and by now I was already inside the Street Party.

At the far end was a Cabaret Stage, not even 150 Meters away yet with the crowds of people it was almost impossible to hear. We started with a jug of Pimms and hooked up with both Mikeys friend Jason & my friend from work, James. Preety much just chilled. You couldnt very easily move with the masses of people and the encroaching grey cloud looked like it was going to break with precipitation any minute. As the rain started to fall like thousands of others we ran for cover in one of Claphams's 2 gay bars. Sheltering in the Two Brewers which I have never seen so crammed in all of my life. The bar was at least 4 people deep and after the first drink we decided it wasnt worth the hassle of standing in line and instead went to the supermarket and bought drinks and stood outside in the street with the crowds. My friend Owen from Cardiff found us in the masses and joint us for the day. Has it really been 4 years since I lived in Cardiff?

Came home, quickly ate and changed and ended up at XXL. It also seemed heaving and I can only imagine what it will be like next weekend for Pride. They say that some 750,000 people come to London for Pride.

Finally summer has arrived. Today's high is due to be 30 degree's. It was over 20 over night. Old Blighty seem's to have 2 possible weather conditions. Hot & Stickey and wet and cold. Why can it never be warm, sunny & Fabulous?

Booted and Suited

Having always wanted a made to measure suit, there seemed no better time than the move into our Mayfair office to purchase one. Add to that the gift voucher Alex & Mikey gave me towards it for my birthday and it was a done deal.

Toby the Tailor came to my office in April and took my measurements and actually the suit was ready before our travels, it was just finding time for the second and most enjoyable part of the experience. The fitting.

Included in the price was the cost of Toby coming to your work place with all of the samples of the materials. Taking your measurements and then the production and delivery of your suit. I went with a rich Italian Blue Wool to go with my eyes. Two pairs of trousers, Waistcoat and Jacket. The back of Waistcoat is a rich Paisley Blue which matches the lining of my jacket and it all fits perfectly.

Ray, my colleague, asked immediately how long it will be before I am wearing something down it! How very dare they? It is perfect. The trousers hang in the exact posistion around my waist they are supposed to hang. I am very pleased with it.

Well if one works in Mayfair one should look Mayfair right? For further details on Toby's fanastic service visit http://www.hemingwaytailors.co.uk

The only problem I have now is I intend to loose weight. The good thing is you can always have inches taken out of the back of the trousers. So am I going to wear it today? No. Its far too hot for a 3 piece today and I have no formal meetings. I am sure it can wait another day. They do say once you have had bespoke you wont want to go back to off the rack!

How do you rate your mornings?

As the alarm goes off in the morning there are generally 3 responses I can give.
1) Hit snooze as though ten minutes more sleep will make much of a difference
2) Turn it off, slide my legs over the edge of the bed and go directly to the kettle
3) Sleep through the alarm as it merges with my dream and I dont even realise its an alarm at all.

More often than not I am awake a good hour before the alarm rings. Often turning it off an hour before it is due to sound and figuring I should make the most of the day. More often than not, on these summer days, I am awake with the dawn chorus.

I then plonk myself down on the sofa and turn on the news or check out Neil Sexton on Gaydar Radio and brew a large pot of coffee. My day is then rated as a one cup, two cup or three cup of coffee day.

One cup days tend to be when its lovely and brighgt, the sun is beaming in and you can tell that the breeze coming in the window is the coolest part of the day. Two cups would be normal. Lounge with the television or radio and sip my coffee waking up slowly with the gentle caffein buzz starting to take hold.

Three cup days are rare. They tend to be when I have either had a particuarly late night or a little too much alcohol the night before.

I had tried to cut back my caffein in take and never take any post 6PM. But I did read recently in a mens health magazine that drinking several cups of coffee a day is actually good at helping your liver to clear out other things such as alcohol. Wash this all down with a good 2 liters of water during the day apparantly its not that bad at all. Well so they are saying this week.

Meanwhile, we finally made the move from West End to Mayfair. Ironically in the most expensive part of London I have absolutely no mobile telephone signal whatsoever at my desk. Must be too posh for telephones. I am minutes walk from the park where I tend to go to enjoy lunch on nice days and I dont for one minute miss the madness of Oxford Street as one leaves work in the evenings. It is however further away from the gym. But with the work out regime starting to make a difference and with my body needing a good kick start to getting back to the shape I want to be, I will make the effort.

Finally Patsy was broken into. Burglars broke in their patio door overnight. If it was not for the dog barking and disturbing them they would have gotten far more. Obviously there was the damage and mess. They have to leave the footprints on the carpet for 3 weeks until the loss adjuster arrives. How wrong is that? You have an invasion of your property and just want to scrub everything clean but cant due to the insurers. Crazy the locksmith said the locks on the new house were so cheap they can be broken in seconds. This on a new home. Check your locks readers. How nasty knowing strangers were in your own home while you were sleeping. Total invasion of privacy. Pat's was rather shaken and just want to send all our love and hope you are both okay. Much love x.

Back to normality

Well its been Sunny, relaxing and fabulous but today its time to go back to work and return to the normality of life.

At least I had the majority of the weekend to recover. Both Dusan and I were strangely surprised that we could be jet lagged without even having steped on a plane. I am guessing its the lack of sea air thats making me feel tired. Still on a plus side, at least the sunshine seems to have followed us home.

I will upload more photo's this evenining!
