Legs astride the Meridian

With the warm weather forcast to continue for the rest of the week and Dusan up early today for a day shift I asked him to make sure I was awake before he left so that I could make the most of the day and the sunshine.

His alarm was around 9 and he left at 10, kissing me goodbye. Where upon I turned over the pillow and laid my face against the cool side of the cotton. Isnt it fabulous to feel the touch of cold cotton on your skin when its a boiling hot day or night?

I fell back to sleep within minutes and before I knew it half the morning was gone again. I clearly needed the catch up of sleep.

Once I did finally rise I made the bed, cleaned the appartment and put together a bag with some study books I am working my way through. With Royal Greenwich Park just down the road and the sun in the sky I decided to make the most of it and take a walk to the park. It was around 26 degrees in the shade and the perfect day for a strole.

The main road, opposite our appartment, leads directly into Greenwich high street. I have never walked it before and was quite surprised at where I came out right by the Cinema and Cafe Rouge. Literally minutes from the complex. Will definitely be making the most of the locations facilities.

Within 15 minutes walk I was in the Royal Park. Its one of those massive parks with Tree's that are literally hundreds of years old. For generations people of all walks of life, nobility to the working man have enjoyed the park in all seasons.

Today it was packed with locals and tourists alike. People playing cricket, frizby, sunbathers and picknicers. I found a nice spot on a slight hill over looking the old Maritime Museum with the sky scrapers of the financial district of Canary Wharf just beyond. It was literally the perfect weather for the park. Not too hot, not too cold, just right.

Have not been to Greenwich park in years. Its home to the Royal Observatory and of course the Meridian Line directly in the middle of two time zones and where mid day is litterally half way around the globe. They have marks on the floor where you can , as they say, have your legs astride the Meridian. When I told Dusan this he said that only a slapper would want their legs in two time zones at once. We did laugh.

Came home in time to do an hour at the gym and put on a chicken ready to relax for the rest of the evening. Hoping that this weather will last for the rest of the summer
