Sunday at RVT & DTPM

I have been known to frequent the Royal Vauxhall Tavern (RVT) on many a Sunday afternoon. In fact we often refer to it as Church. Of course the official name is S.L.A.G.S. Chill out. That’s the South London Action Girls Society, for the Virgins amongst you. For those regulars amongst us it’s a place you can go with none of the attitude of much of the scene. You have to be there by around 4PM these days to ensure you will get admission, but once in with your £6 wristband allowing readmission you can buy your self a drink and set yourself down outside, weather permitting, on the grassy knoll.

Bumped into Chris, Ian & Jez and chilled for a while in the park before going in to enjoy the show. The very talented Dame Edna Experience. Not only the best drag act in the country but possibly one of the best comedians and singers / impersonators in the country. The £6 entrance is such a bargain for from 530 – 630 you are treated to ensemble of limit pushing jokes, classic gags and a set of songs sung in the vocal sounding of the singer. i.e. Edna sang Patsy Cline, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Dusty Springfield. Such a talent and such a crowd puller it’s a must on anyone visiting me or London’s tour agenda. More so for the fact that if it was not for Jonathan’s (Dame Edna Experience) doing a show back in Brighton in Jan 2003 I would possibly never have met Dusan. We met during Jonathans show down in Brighton at a Phil Starr Tribute Night.

The show finished and we met up with Richard & Mark (Leather Queens) and had a boogie till around 830 before making our way to Marcus Chops for a drink pre DTPM. Always lovely to see Marcus and filled us in nicely before my big treat and Dusan’s too, DTPM.

The Music Pumped, the gorgeous boys were out in the mass. We met up with Neil Sexton for a drink and a quick dance and then Dusan’s friend, Marko, joint us too.

I don’t know what it is about DTPM that has me so drawn. I guess it feels like home. Great venue, friendly staff, beautiful boys all being shared my dear friends. Totally fabulous.

We got home from DTPM around 420 AM and spent over 3 hours, chilling out and catching up on one another and enjoying a bit of quality time. With only 2 days till Dusan leaves for Croatia I cant help but admit I am scared and upset at how I will feel without him again. If we have survived the past few years a few more months should be nothing.

A chilled day Monday before a stupid O’clock start tomorrow. Sigh. Well got to pay the bills somehow.
