Have Ipod, Can Travel

I have this routine before I leave the house most days. Oyster Card, Wallet, Mobile telephone, Gym bag and of course Ipod. I sometimes pack a book but I like to read the Metro in the mornings on the way to the bank.

But sometimes, when I have had a bad nights sleep or been woken a few times too many in the night, (Normally by my husband coming home from work in the wee hours), I sometimes miss one of the steps. Sometimes its all I can do to make a cup of coffee or two and jump in the shower. My shirt has to be ironed the night before and I have to shave my head and face the night before else risk hacking my face half to pieces with my weary eyes in the early hours.

This morning I was a few minutes behind schedule, but as most things had been prepared yesterday I grabbed my bag and phone, kissed Dusan goodbye and headed out of the front door. Locking the door and putting my key into a secure place and then heading through the petit jardin toward the DLR. Suddenly it struck me. Had I done my full checklist before rushing out the door. Wallet Check, Gym Bag Check, Mobile Check, House Keys Check. I-Pod! Please tell me I packed my I-Pod. Its one of those things that I simply cant cope without. Not on the Journey to work anyway. On the way home one can make a phone call but in the morning rush hour its considered almost taboo to do that most natural thing, speak.

My heart almost started to race at the thought of having to take the entire journey without being able to block out the world and instead of the hussel and bussel of London listen to something upbeat and appropriate, like Abba, the Hairspray soundtrack or Peyton. Thankfully after a bit of a body search I found my Ipod hidden in a pocket but was almost tempted to come home for it and risk being late for work.

Thankfully we have broken the hump of the week. Roll on the weekend!
