Madonna - Sweet and Sticky World Tour

Having only found out a couple of days ago that we had not received the Madonna tickets we had paid for months ago, we decided to go to Cardiff for the weekend anyway. The Hotel was booked for 2 nights and we had not seen Alex & Mikey in ages. So we would come down to Cardiff, find something to do for a fun weekend.

Traffic was heavy and it took 5 hours from London to Cardfiff. Alex was waiting in the entrance of the Hilton as we pulled in and the Valet dealt with parking the car.

Just after we had checked in and given our complimentary upgrade to the executive lounge (Meaning free drinks, Lucky Bitches) so we headed to the lift. Suddenly someone fox whistled and it was Marcus Chops who had come to say hello.

We all went for a drink in the executive lounge which stood 7 floors up with direct views over Cardiff Castle and the seven hills of Cardiff.

Mikey had arrived a few hours earlier and scouted online and managed to find 4 seats to the concert that had just been returned. He had run down to the Stadium and picked them up. We were going to Madonna after all.

We went down to the Pool and enjoyed the Spa and Steam room before showering and heading meeting the boys back upstairs in the VIP lounge. With a couple of cocktails consumed we headed down to the Millenium Stadium to find our seats.

Its been years since I went to a Stadium Concert. Seeing Madonna and Michael Jackson there back in the 1980s. The Millenium Stadium is big and has a great view of what would be the pitch from preety much all of the seats. The Stage was right at the front and although we couldnt see Maj close up from our location the big projector screens gave us a clear view of all the Action.

With Music from her entire Career from Borderline to Vogue to Time to Hard Candy.I Cant say that I enjoyed it as much as her Confessions on a Dancefloor tour two years ago but it was great to be at the opening night of her World Tour. Especially after the dissapointment of not getting the tickets we paid for months ago.

Once the show finished we pilled out of the Stadium with everyone else. The great thing about the Millenium Stadium is that its right in the heart of Cardiff City Centre. We left the stadium and were in the Loft Bar within a couple of minutes. As we turned left down Caroline Street, AKA Chip Shop Alley, a voice called "Neil". I turned to see my friend Damion from Bristol whom I have not seen in over 3 years.

We had a drink in the Loft and went on to the gay district of Charles Street. A few minutes in line to Exit just as the rain turned from a drizzle to a bit of a pour we were inside in a couple of minutes.

Exit & Club X are the gay clubs in Cardiff. Though I would say that they resemeble more of a school Disco than a nightclub. I have never known a music set that mixes in Steps with Country Music with dance Music. When I asked Marcus what kind of a DJ plays this? He said, "DJ? I think they just put on a tape". It was very provincial to say the least.

We all danced till the early hours. Alex and Mikey left first, then Marcus leaving us as the last men standing. We finally got back to the hotel to sleep at 4:00AM. A good time been had by all.
